About the event

Ready for some stunning East Bay views? We’re hitting the Upper Rim Trail at Lafayette Reservoir—a rolling 5 mile loop that delivers wide-open skies, steady climbs, and those “wow” vistas that make you feel small in the best way.

We’ll start in the main lot and hike clockwise, finishing where we began. This one’s a solid mid-distance adventure with about 900 ft of elevation gain spread across several steep-but-doable hills. You’ll feel it—but in that I’m stronger than I thought kind of way.

Expect leg-burning climbs, sweeping views, and the kind of fresh air that clears your head and resets your week.

Note on Trail Expectations:

This hike is designed as a training adventure, and the hills on the Upper Rim Trail are no joke—steep, steady, and meant to challenge you (in the best way). To ensure we stay on track and finish on time, we’ll do a pace check about 2 miles in. If it looks like the full loop isn’t the right fit today, you’ll have the option to return to the lower, paved loop which you can complete at your own pace.

We want everyone to feel accomplished and safe, and part of that means listening to our bodies and being honest about where we are in our hiking journey. This isn’t about being the fastest—it’s about being respectful of the group and honoring the spirit of adventure. You’ve got this, and we’re cheering you on every step of the way!

Let’s get up high and get those good trail vibes going.
